When It comes to scanning on the go and especially scanning receipts, the NeatReceipts scanner is my choice. Also since I already own Acrobat 9 Professional, I don’t need the added expense of having that bundled in (like it is on the S510M). I also like its “baby brother” the S300M because it takes up less space and costs less. I’m still blown away by how FAST this scanner works. When it comes to eliminating paper on my desk, nothing beats the ScanSnap S510M. Of course each one has its pluses and minuses. I took the same 3 documents and scanned them on each scanner. Tremendously unhappy with it.I decided to put all 3 scanners to the test and record it so that you can see for yourself. It isn't fair to the merchants who sell it & it certainly isn't fair to the buyers who want to record their expenditures. That's a CRIME that shouldn't even be allowed by this auction house. And certainly not everyone in this economy can afford to have to PAY to update a buggy system, software & hardware. The developers have to learn that not everyone is willing to pay good money to be their guinea pig for working out the bugs in a system/ software. Until the owners of this system spend enough time debugging it & putting out updates & fixes that don't COST the consumer EVEN MORE MONEY to be able to GET the fixes, workarounds or software UPDATES, this is a piece of garbage that SHOULDNT be given room in a tech or a regular household's records keeping. I maintain a lot of receipts that I would have loved to use this program & machine for, but there is NO WAY that I could afford to lose so much time to something that may or may not save it because it can't seem to run any length of time without SAVING every so often automatically like it says that it DOES.ĭon't buy this for someone you love, unless you want them to be unhappy & frustrated. I'm a professional merchant & I've been with ebay for over 10 years now. Not by the seller who sold what he thought was a good item, but by the manufacturer who HAD TO KNOW that the system they were selling was buggy because you can't test something that FREEZES every PC its put on. I worked HARD to make the money to buy this & I feel CHEATED. I'll try to contact the customer services on the less than friendly website but he's very upset to have lost precious time off trying to get this thing to work on something he's wanted since it first came out. That's TWO full systems that work with every other type of scanner, printer & product that won't work with this ONE PIECE of software/Scanner? No. There is no driver for the scanner downloadable or included which means that everything is proprietary unto itself & without the software working properly NOTHING works. The manual is less than stellar & seems to be written by people afraid to ask for help so they've put out a product that isn't user friendly & doesn't seem to have workarounds for issues that obviously come up. The proprietary software is immensely buggy. Well, it doesn't save it it loses EVERYTHING that you've put in that day. With a data base you're not su pposed to have to save every so often, its a data base, it should automatically SAVE like the instructions SAY it does. After a day of closing down everything that the software required not to be running & inputting over 100 receipts the XP suddenly froze with NOTHING ELSE RUNNING except for the OS & EVERYTHING he had done today was simply GONE. I lent him the XP so that he could work the Neat Receipt software & scanner that I gave him for a part anniversary & part birthday present. Since he was having so much trouble on the laptop I gave the XP computer over to my significant who is also my ace grace IT guy- this isn't some illiterate computer person trying to use this software without reading the manual, oh no. It won't work with the PC Vista operating system on our state of the art laptop at all, it just freezes. This is less than Stellar Not professional & isn't good
